ah, the quest for life
a life that lasts
beyond our death
our final gasp
a life that lives forever
such life is easy
and yet elusive
you must pursue
it is reclusive
such life exists beyond you
eternal life
is a life that’s spent
on something more
than food and rent
it is a life of gift
so give your eyes
give your hands
give your mind
give your plans
give to one who lacks
give one a chance
another time
give one a break
give one a dime
it’s not the size that counts
it’s the thread that ties
the one who gives
and the one who gets
’tis a thread that lives
a thread that gives both life
this thread binds one
unto the other
it gives life
as though to child from mother
and mysteriously back again
so give your life
give your soul
give each piece
’til you’ve given the whole
and then you will live forever

Nice poem. How about a poem about being a dad or parent forever?
Daddy,
Thanks for the encouragement. Funny, but other than I silly little lullaby I made up for my daughter when she was a baby, I don’t think I’ve ever written a poem about fatherhood. I’ve done a few stories out at 55 Fiction; but no poems I can think of.
Very touching. I don’t know what more to say, I’m really glad I stumbled across your poem through problogger.
My completely opposite and self-centred how to is up at
How to “buy” happiness , if you’d like to read something more mundane
A unique take on the project indeed! Our how-to is up as well if you’d like to check it out!!
I enjoyed your writing. Thanks.
My how to is up.
