My Life, My Blog

Hsien did this, and I liked it. So, here we go…

childhood ambition to be rich

fondest memory holding my daughter for the first time

soundtrack eclectic… a lot of lo-fi rock and chill at the moment

retreat kitchen table to journal

wildest dream to live a simple life, travel lots and be financially free

proudest moment marrying Kerri

biggest challenge balancing everything

alarm clock snoozed too often

perfect day one spent pursuing God, playing with the kids, and holding my wife

first job soccer ref, then summer help for the city parks division

indulgence cookies and a mocha

last purchase sour cream, salsa, eggs and turkey bacon… not for the same meal

favorite movie Crash is the one that keeps popping into my head

inspiration Martha Gomez and the staff at TCM

My life Full

My card frozen

Revenge of the Quirks Meme

A BankseyOK, Sheila tagged me with this one before the holidays, and I’m finally getting around to it. This means I’m only two weeks behind on my Gmail. I like these sorts of things (to an extent). I used to do Friday Five before shut down.

So, here goes nothing; I don’t think there’s anything here that will scare you off… but I wouldn’t bet anything on that. Let’s see if we manage to push the boundaries of comfort.

The Rules

  1. Post a blog with your six weird habits/ things as well as the rules/ instructions;

Nevermind with the rest of them; they relate to stuff I’m not gonna do. (See Quirk #6) Read the rest of this entry »

Bloggers Face-to-Face

It’s late Saturday morning, and Darren’s got an interesting question up: Which Bloggers Would You Love to Meet? In addition to excluding his b5 co-founders, Darren limits his list to five, knowing there are way more than five he’d like to meet. So, following suit, I’ll limit myself to five… NOT!

1. Darren Rowse (and the entire group of b5 founders) - Darren’s Living Room blog was one of the first I read, and it was through him I learned of b5media. If nothing else I’d like to buy them each dinner and say, “Thanks for paying me to write.”
2. Hsien Lei and Jonic Linley (and the rest of the b5 bloggers) - Hsien and Jonic have fast become friends across many miles, which is one of the uber-cool things about blogging in general and b5 in particular. With any luck, I’ll get to meet a few of the local - i.e. midwestern - b5-ers later this year.
3. Andrew Jones, Sivin Kit, Steve Collins and Steve Taylor (et. al.) - Again, these guys are just representative of the many bloggers who have influences my faith over the last 3+ years. I had the joy of meeting several back at the WALP-EC conference in 2005. This lot, however, live abroad; so a face-to-face is more logistically challenging. Someday… someday….

Book Meme

Chris tagged me, so here we go…

1. One book that changed your life: The Ragamuffin Gospel: Good News for the Bedraggled, Beat-Up, and Burnt Out by Brennan Manning

2. One book that you’ve read more than once: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 25th Anniversary Edition by Douglas Adams

3. One book you’d want on a desert island: The Divine Hours by Phyllis Tickle (Can I sneak the trilogy?)

4. One book that made you laugh: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 25th Anniversary Edition by Douglas Adams (There’s a reason I’ve read it more than once.)

5. One book that made you cry: Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger: Moving from Affluence to Generosity by Ron Sider (I don’t cry at much of anything; but this one made be feel sick to me stomach.)

6. One book you wish had been written: It Is Finished! How Grace Fulfilled the Law

7. One book you wish had never been written: None… though a few could use a great big FICTION! stamp on the cover and spine.

8. One book you’re currently reading: A Heretic’s Guide to Eternity by Spencer Burke

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read: The Politics of Jesus by John Howad Yoder

10. One book you’d like to write: Let The Children Come to Me: The Story of Tijuana Christian Mission

Now I’ll tag Kerri @ My Name Is Mommy, Hsien @ Cotton-Pickin’ Days, and Rantz @ Keepers of the Truth
